Summary

The Release Engineer will support the Release team within TeleSign as we build a highly virtualized and distributed transaction processing platform. The Release team, working in conjunction with development and systems administration teams, employs an Agile DevOps-oriented approach to improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of deployment of TeleSign's products and infrastructure.

This role is for an engineer who thrives in a collaborative, diverse environment and is passionate about technology. You will be in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with responsibilities that include automation of continuous integration and continuous delivery processes as well as managing TeleSign releases.

The Release team includes staff in Marina del Rey, CA, and Belgrade, Serbia. Team members must be detail-oriented, demonstrate good risk management-based decision making, and bring innovative, reliable solutions to challenges and problems alike. He/she will possess strong Linux technical skills, along with proven DevOps experience. This person must self-motivate and demonstrate drive to research and complete assigned tasks whether working independently or as a member of a cross-organizational team.

Essential Functions

  • Act as the main of contact for all things build related and the key representative for the development teams for TeleSign's software releases.
  • Work closely with the Development and Operations teams to make TeleSign's releases as smooth as possible
  • Facilitate and support the release process from development through production.
  • Monitor and administer the automated build and continuous integration process (Jenkins) to ensure correct build execution and facilitate resolution of build failures.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of the build/release process.
  • Investigate tools that may speed up the process or make us more efficient in build and release management.
  • Design & enforce policies for managing source code within git, including branching, merging and tagging policies to support frequent releases, parallel development, and hotfixes.
  • Work on development and improvement of TeleSign infrastructure

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience with DevOps automation configuration management and orchestration tools (Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Jenkins, Kubernetes).
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and bash Scripting.
  • Knowledge of some programming language (Python, C++, Java).
  • Basic knowledge of some non-relational databases (Redis, Elasticsearch).
  • Good SQL and database skills.
  • Understanding of development best practices and standards (design patterns, coding standards, etc.).
  • A solid grounding in version control and experience working with a team using Git.
  • Solid understanding of basic networking design and principals.
  • Ability to speak and write clear English in order to facilitate clear, unambiguous communications.
  • Experience in designing, building and maintaining an automated build and release environment.
  • Experience in designing a software release process to satisfy internal audit and compliance.
  • Experience in coordinating release from Development to production.
  • Understanding of software versioning and build numbers.
  • Experience with continuous integration Servers, preferably Jenkins.
  • Familiar with SQL and relational database like MySQL.
  • Experience working with AGILE and SCRUM methodologies.
